In a group insurance policy, coverage may include disability, dental, travel, supplementary health coverage and many others depending on the capacity of the employer. Technically, group life insurance is also included in these plans and most of them give a particular amount of coverage for a minimum cost to the employee. But there are such group plans that give the employee the option to buy another life insurance coverage in addition to the coverage that they already have. For your own benefit, try to compare first before buying.
