State Governments : Taking Action

inadequate.jpgSeveral States in the US have begun to overhaul their health care systems to make it affordable and competitive enough Americans can say they have a choice. They mostly hit snags when the question of rising costs and making it more accessible are asked sometimes ending in gridlock. They could learn from UK officials who affected reforms that had premiums rise a bit that resulted in many complaints from their constituents. When the financial crisis began and health care was one of the first casualties of the crunch, but what do you know, the raised prices they asked for worked and even earned city hall enough money to re-direct it to their schools. Students stayed in school, constituents still had healthcare they could afford, everybody was happy. The crisis could have been avoided if lawmakers in the US hadn’t been so engrossed in the business of their military expenditure and other issues such as the elections, experts have predicted it sometime ago but still people were caught so off guard, they lost their insurance benefits. It just happened too darned fast and nobody could have stopped the problems, even the president, for the money needed was elsewhere and the financial crisis back home didn’t help either. It will be sometime before the smoke clears and we could see if all the promises and plans get implemented into viable affordable health care plans for all. Let us just pray they can do it in time before more Americans die of the lack of insurance.

Health Care Costs at Unprecedented Levels

life-insurance.jpgThe crisis that the health care system is facing has been brewing for sometime and thankfully, it is finally getting much needed attention from media, the general public and lawmakers. Retirees, even with health insurance will spend the rest of their breathing days having to pay for much of their health care needs out of their pensions even with health insurance in place. Underinsured people suffer so much around two die every minute just because they do not have insurance and cannot afford the medical treatment they need.

Alcoholism and your Insurance

alcohol-abuse.jpgBeing an alcoholic or even being a moderate drinker has implications which could affect your insurance cover or the amount you would have to pay comparable to being obese. Any factor that can contribute to deteriorating health can either disallow your ability to get insurance or have you pay premiums at higher prices. Medical records that show several visits to a medical facility due to alcohol related injuries or injuries that have been brought about by alcohol dependence would be a point against you during your application for insurance cover. Alcohol use and abuse, is attributed to be a precursor for heart disease, liver problems and other illnesses which can ultimately end in death thus labels you as a high-risk individual.

HSA’s

healthins.jpgHealth Savings Accounts have been met both with love and disgust by many due to difficulties that have been brought up by their introduction. The many packages and types of insurance that are around are truly dumbfounding that many still have no idea what the nuances of such insurance policies are. The other side of HSA’s is that they were more appealing to the upper class folks who have the dollars to save and not well suited for low income families. The needed knowledge is available yet not much show interest in these nifty back-up plans that do have the potential to save ones life in case they do need care and everybody needs it form time to time.

Many people believes that long-term care provides the assistance you greatly need to achieve dealings of daily living—such as bathing and dressing yourself. Or, you may need supervision because of dementia or another form of cognitive injury. In addition to this custodial care, some people also require expert nursing services due to severe illness.

You can acquire long-term care in a nursing home, assisted living capacity, or in your own home. The need for long-term care can occur at any time, in spite of your age. Older citizens use the most longterm care, but younger and middle-aged people seldom need long-term care as well. You may need long-term care because of a chronic illness or disability that leaves you incapable to care for yourself for an extensive period of time.

Long-term care is usually not covered by health insurance except in a very limited way whether the person is inside a nursing home, assisted living facility or even at their own home.

The Presidential Race – Different approaches to the Health Care Issue (Part -2)

elec21.jpgStatistics show that about 43 million Americans currently have to live without healthcare and 6 million of those are children. Various groups such as private and public civic groups that are composed of industry experts have long been saying that a major crisis is looming in the industry the sub-prime lending issues that rocked the nation and the world worsened the effects. Americans today who have healthcare insurance have to pay a lot of cash right out of their pockets even with the assurance they have health care. The Presidential Race – Different approaches to the Health Care Issue (Part -1)

elec1.jpgThe candidates have campaigned and said what they want to say, but one area in particular is being seen by many as one of the determining factors whether a candidate will win or loose their approaches to health care. The Republican John McCain is for health care that encourages responsibility among Americans to save up for a needy day. The Democrats Hillary and Barack want a health care system that is affordable yet high in quality that would be accomplished through the inter-working of private and public insurance firms. Their approaches may be a breath of fresh air that is beginning to highlight the issue with the defunct health care system yet the solutions they propose may be a tad bit too late for them to make any difference.
